My Story

When I found this piece of property I had to do a double take.  The trees and layout of the property actually looks like our logo.  We are literally blanketed under some of the oldest oak trees in the county.  Being a tree hugger and proud of it, I was very careful to nestle the buildings in such a way as to not disturb not one tree.  It was not an easy task saving these trees, but when people arrive, they can't believe what a beautiful site it is.
I started my business in 1984 with a strong back and a commitment to the environment and being a good shepherd for our poor earth. Organic gardening and landscaping with low maintenance plants and a mantra that says "right plant in the right place". I felt that living a healthy lifestyle included using plants that would not need to be sprayed, and poisoned.  I didn't want to be part of the pollution.  I wanted to be part of the solution.
Because I live close to the ocean, salt tolerant plants were something I paid very close attention to and began to study.  I am now known as the seaside gardening expert.
I feel very fortunate to be able to live and work in a clean air environment with birds, butterflies, and lots of other lovely living things.
I studied Feng Shui for landscaping, and I love the concept and try to design gardens that have all the elements of Feng Shui.  For example, the use of water, color, hardscapes such as boulders, fountains, statuary, and beautiful plants that move, smell great, and improve the quality of life.
We all need to come home to a sanctuary, whether you live in a small apartment or a grand estate.  We all want to come home to a peaceful place where our eyes can rest and enjoy the beauty of the outdoors.
Anyway, with the help of 25 great employees, we have finally moved into what I consider one of the best sites for a truly beautiful garden experience.
We nestled our buildings on a 4 1/2 acre site with ancient oak trees.  The birds and butterflies are incredible here.  The property looks like a park but only better.
We have a state of the art flower and gift shoppe in a beautiful new building which is about 2000 sq. ft. and a garden center which is 6000sq. ft.  It looks bigger thanks to the walls that are 25 feet high.
I love it.  Between the cats, dog, tropical birds, and the flowers it makes visiting and shopping at Nature Scapes a true experience in nature.
